ELLE MÁRJÁ EIRA
Multi talented artist from Kautokeino who in recent years has marked herself both as an artist at the major International industry festivals, as a film music composer and filmmaker.
Winner of Arctic Talent 2015. GramArt scholarship in 2019.
As a musical artist she joik in her native Sápmi tongue with a presence, rawness and ingenuity that transcends language barriers. She excels at the intersection of joik, electronic and Indigenous music. Member of the band Snoweye with Lucy Parnell and John Paul Jones (Led Zeppelin, Them Croocked Vultures). Elle Márjá is from a reindeer herding family in Kautokeino and belong to reindeer district 26 - Lákkonjárga. Deeply personal and rooted in the reindeer husbandry.
She has collaborated musically with Christophe Beck in the feature film The 12th Man by Harald Zwart. In 2019 she made her debut as a theatre music composer at Sámi Našunálateáhter Beaivváš. Member of Article 3 –the only female DJs from Sápmi. Directed and produced several short films, music videos and NRK Sápmi TV series.
She has had exhibitions, film screenings and concerts around the world. USA, Russia, England, Germany, Canada, China, Sweden, Finland, France, Lithuania, Denmark, Belgium, Brazil, Guatemala, Sweden, Finland, New Zealand, Slovakia.
